Racing by Tom O'Ryan

Tim Easterby, who had to be content with runner-up honours at Royal Ascot yesterday when Pipalong found Bint Allayl just too good in the Queen Mary Stakes, can put that defeat firmly behind him tomorrow on the final day of the meeting.

The Great Habton trainer has excellent chances of a double with Bollin Joanne in the King's Stand Stakes, and Flanders in the Windsor Castle Stakes.

Bollin Joanne, who has bridged the gap from handicapper to Group-race performer, landed a courageous victory over Elnadim in the Duke Of York Stakes on Knavesmire last month.

As tough as she is talented, the five-year-old will again have the assistance tomorrow of Kieren Fallon, who has struck up such a good rapport with her. In a typically wide-open race, worth than £130,000, she has a first-rate chance of hitting the bullseye.

Flanders will have the services of Lindsay Charnock as she bids to complete a hat-trick of wins after two Beverley victories.

Charnock has scored on her each time she has won, and enjoyed an armchair ride 16 days ago when Flanders turned the valuable Hilary Needler Trophy into a procession.

She faces a stiffer test tomorrow, but this smart juvenile, held in high regard by Easterby, is napped to come out on top.

Easterby has yet another good chance of victory with Double Action (a creditable runner-up to Gaelic Storm at York last Friday) in the Wokingham Handicap. But preference here is for Irish raider One Won One, the mount of Kevin Manning.

Twice a winner within three days last month, at the Curragh and at Navan, One Won One has been specifically trained for this race by Joanna Morgan, who is optimistic about his chances.

Frankie Dettori is enjoying a memorable Royal Ascot meeting, with three winners in the bag so far, and the charismatic Italian can take tomorrow's Hardwicke Stakes aboard Swain, a proven top-grade performer.

Runner-up in both his races this year, the Dubai World Cup and the Coronation Cup, Swain can make it third-time-lucky in this Group 2 showpiece, won last year by his stable-mate Predappio.

The Queen Alexandra Stakes over two and threequarter miles, has attracted a mixed bag of entries. There will be no more popular winner than Further Flight, Barry Hills' ultra-consistent veteran, who can enter the record books by lifting this marathon at the age of 12.

Up at Ayr, Mousehole makes plenty of appeal in the Ben Handicap. Rae Guest's sprinter gave notice of a return to form when a close-up sixth to Broadstair's Beauty at Thirsk recently.

Last week's Hamilton winner Coscoroba (2.20) has good prospects of obliging again, while River Beat (4.05) also makes plenty of appeal The latter, trained by Mark Tompkins has won his last two races and, clearly on the upgrade, looks capable of defying a 6lb penalty.
