Two workmen were stranded 60ft up a wall at York's main chocolate factory when the cradle they were working in became stuck today.
The bricklayers had been working on the Haxby Road offices of Nestl when the safety catch on the hoist they were in became caught.
And the pair were buffeted by the wind for half an hour while they waited three floors up the outside of the building for the fire brigade to bring them down to ground level.
Spokesman for Nestl Paul Kirkwood said: "The two were stuck up there feeling a bit foolish for about half an hour, but they weren't in any danger.
"Basically, the safety switch had been caught and they weren't able to put it right while they were up there. It was an inconvenience but there was no cause for alarm.
"They were quite safe while they were up there."
And there was no time to regain their head for heights before the two got back to work.
"I don't know if the cradle is working again yet, but the two had to find a way of getting back up there quickly. They still had their work to finish off," said Mr Kirkwood.
