BUSINESSES in Tadcaster will be briefed on ambitious plans for improved sports facilities at a seminar run by Tadcaster Youth Centre next Friday.

The centre's district community tutor, Vic Florey, said businesses will be urged to make a contribution towards the £5,000 cost of installing floodlights in a sports area.

"The youth club members have written to 100 local businesses. We hope they will come to listen how we aim to improve facilities and that they will help out," he said.

The sports area at the centre in Manor Farm, St Joseph Street, Tadcaster, is used for football, hockey, basketball and in-line skating.

North Yorkshire County Council has provided upgraded fencing and benches for spectators have been fitted.

Anyone interested in attending the seminar, which starts at 6pm, should contact Mr Florey on 01937 832507.
