TEENAGER Daniel Lowe is aiming to cut a schoolboy dash with the Blades.

The 14-year-old Tadcaster Grammar School pupil has signed two-year associate schoolboy terms with Division One side Sheffield United.

Midfielder Lowe played trial games at Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United, before being offered a chance at Bramall Lane.

The youngster, of Appleton Roebuck, near York, captains his school side and plays in the Wetherby League with league and cup winners Kirk Deighton.

Daniel's mother Anne declared: "He went for a trial at Bramall Lane and they were so impressed they pulled him off at half-time and wanted to sign him there and then.

"It will involve a lot of travelling but he did want a South Yorkshire club because we are South Yorkshire born and bred. Football is the love of his life."

She put her son's success down to coaching sessions with Premier Soccer School, run by Graham Vickers.Lowe has also excelled in junior athletics and cricket.

He was selected to represent Tadcaster and Selby Schools in the junior boys 100 metres in this week's North Yorkshire Championships, while last year he was a member of the York and Selby schools cricket squad.

Meanwhile, Premier Soccer School youngster Craig Brown, from the Harrogate area, has signed schoolboy forms with Nottingham Forest.
