THE Harrogate Soccer Education programme will be the first of its kind in the North of England when it is launched in September.
Aimed at boys aged 16-19 years of age it will include daily coaching and training, FA coaching qualifications, nutrition, refereeing, computing, NVQ's in sport and physical recreation as well as the opportunity to study for A levels and/or GCSE's.
The programme is only offered to boys because of FA restrictions. But if there is sufficient interest from girls a separate programme can be arranged.
The staff will include former Scarborough boss Colin Morris, who has staffed national and international FA courses.
Rob Saipe, programme co-ordinator (sport, leisure and tourism) said: "While only the lucky and talented few will get to play in the Premiership, there are numerous other opportunities to work in the sport.
"All youngsters, having submitted an application form, will have to attend an interview and a coaching session/trial on July 10. We need to hear from anyone interested before then.
"Boys should contact the College on 01423 879466 and ask for the soccer programme application form."
