Legal Issue, successful at Beverley a week ago, can defy a 6lb penalty on the same course tomorrow.

The six-year-old, owned by Brian Valentine, who lives at Bishop Burton, lines-up for the Cheshire Cheese Handicap with good prospects of landing his third win from his last four outings.

Legal Issue, who started his purple patch at Pontefract, got home by a whisker from Blooming Amazing on this course last Wednesday night and then had to survive a stewards' inquiry.

It is difficult to know what to make of his latest effort. The race was run at a crawl and developed into a sprint.

Legal Issue was as inconvenienced as any by the way the race was run, and for him to win in such determined style was a praiseworthy effort.

Roddy Lappin, who was given a two-day suspension for careless riding on the James Hetherton-trained gelding last week, has the mount again tomorrow. A follow-up likely over this slightly longer distance.

Sunset Harbour, who won the Wensleydale Fillies' Handicap 12 months ago, has an excellent chance of achieving an encore under Kevin Darley in the corresponding race which opens tomorrow's Beverley programme.

Steve Kettlewell's mare has struck form at just the right time, winning recently at Newcastle by a length from Dominelle. The runner-up has since scored at Doncaster and renews rivalry tomorrow.

There is likely to be precious little to choose between the pair again, but Sunset Harbour gets my marginal vote.

In the Eltherington Handicap over an extended seven furlongs, Rymer's Rascal is fancied to get back on the winning trail.

Eric Aldton's six-year-old, a course and distancen winner here last year, has taken time to find his form this season but gave notice that he is on his way back with a creditable effort at Catterick last time.

Winsome George, with two wins to his credit, including one over the course and distance he faces tomorrow, can complete a hat-trick in the Ernest Norris Handicap.

At Salisbury, At Large is napped to lift the featured Tote Handicap, which carries £10,000 in added prize money.

At Large made a promising start to the season at Bath three weeks ago when finishing a neck second to Mister Jolson. He meets that rival on identical terms tomorrow and is taken to turn the tables before going on to better things.

Star Crystal can provide Kieren Fallon with a winning ride in the Booker Foodservice Conditions Stakes. Henry Cecil's filly upset the odds-on Shimall at Haydock recently and is on the upgrade.
