York City have increased their capacity to 32,000.
No, the club have not sensationally and suddenly quit Bootham Crescent for a brand spanking new stadium. The steep rise in volume is in litres.
A new water tank housing some 32,000 litres of water, has been installed on unused terracing in front of the social club in a corner of the ground.
The tanks feeds a new water-sprinkling system that will prove a boon for groundsman Bryan Horner.
No longer will he have to lug miles of piping across the turf to water the pitch. Now with a switch the 14 sprinklers dotted around the perimeter will do the job in considerably less time and with far less muscle power.
Said secretary Keith Usher: "The club have been considering putting in a sprinkler system for some time now.
"The old method was extremely labour intensive and a very slow process."
