Police in York today pledged they will continue their crack-down on drink-related crime in the city centre following a weekend in which 25 arrests were made.
Among the arrests over the weekend for violent and disorderly behaviour by drunken revellers were six men arrested at The Gallery nightclub in Clifford Street on Saturday night.
Around 12 police attended to deal with a large fight outside the club at around 2am which resulted in six people being arrested.
The fight is believed to have started at the door of the club before spilling out onto the street.
Detective Inspector Geoff Dodd, of York police said: "The issue of violence and violent conduct is not a major problem in the city but something the police take extremely seriously.''
