York Rugby League Club slipped to third place in the Second Division after Red Rose rivals Lancashire Lynx and Oldham played out an 18-18 draw.

The Lynx, who move into second, led 12-6 at half-time and added a further try after the interval but Oldham hit back through Steve Wilde and man-of-the-match neil Flanagan.

However, Roughyeds stand-off Chris Wilkinson missed a hat-trick of kicking opportunities which would have handed Oldham a last-gasp victory.

Workington snared only their second victory of the season in beating Barrow 16-13 at Derwent Park.

Batley Bulldogs staved off a second half comeback by Doncaster Dragons to join Bramley at the head of the White Rose Championship.

The Bulldogs, who visit Huntington Stadium next weekend, scored seven tries, one from former York player Paul Harrison. Another ex-Wasp Alex Green kicked two Dragons' goals.

Former Wasps loan star Jamie Benn gave a 100 per cent display on his Super League debut for Castleford Tigers.

The teenager, recalled by Cas following a loan spell at York, kicked three goals from three attempts as the Tigers defeated Salford 18-8 at the Willows.

Leeds' new-found resolve came to the fore again as they weathered a second-half St Helens storm to extend their 100 per cent start to Super League III to eight matches with a 31-18 win at Knowsley Road.

Francis Cummins, Brad Godden and Andy Hay all crossed in the opening 40 minutes, with Godden touching down while the Rhinos were a man short following Hay's sin-binning.

Saints drew level at 16-16 soon after the break but Daryl Powell and then a penalty try, awarded after Hay had the ball stolen from him by Paul Atcheson in a two-man tackle just short of the hosts' line, sealed the win for the Yorkshiremen.

Wigan kept up the pressure on Leeds with a comprehensive 38-16 victory at Super League new boys Hull.

Huddersfield coach Garry Schofield savoured the moment of his side's first Super League victory as they saw off Warrington 28-6.

Meanwhile, First Division leaders Wakefield crashed to only their second defeat of the season, a drop goal by Gavin Price-Jones eight seconds into injury time earning Swinton a 13-12 victory. There were also victories for Featherstone, Keighley and Swinton, while Rochdale and Hull KR shared a 26-26 draw.
