SOME of the men who were found to have been unfairly dismissed from Tadcaster's Sam Smith's brewery after being caught drinking at work, want their jobs back their solicitor said today.
Philip Chapman, of Mitchells Solicitors in York, said that after the industrial tribunal ruling, the seven workers he represented were claiming reinstatement because their jobs were well paid and highly valued in the Tadcaster community.
Three of the seven had the added complication of living in "tied" houses owned by the brewery, for which they were paying 5p a week. He said: "Their homes could be at stake, depending on the outcome of the reinstatement hearing.
"The company has agreed they can stay in the tied houses, pending the outcome of their case."
The 12 former bottling plant workers were either dismissed or resigned after they were caught drinking on film by hidden cameras.
A spokesman for Sam Smith's said the company would not comment until the men's reinstatement hearings had taken place.
