A HAT-TRICK of tries by Alan Mitchell swept Castle Howard Ox to a 17-11 win over York Police Panthers in the Arthur Rhodes Haulage York Interworks Rugby League Plate final at Clifton Park, York, last night.

Michell opened the scoring with a try which he converted and then Dennis Wilson put over a drop goal for Ox to make it 7-0.

The Police opened their account with a drop goal by Johnny Hart and then Karl Hart crossed for a try to put them only two points behind at 7-5.

In the second half Mitchell got two tries and a goal to put Ox in control and towards the end Geoff Loftus went over for a Police try.

Ox skipper Simon Moat was man of the match for his excellent driving performance at prop.

Nigel Ridsdale tackled superbly for Ox, in particular with two try-saving tackles in succession to thwart the Police. Simpson was the Police side's man of the match.
