Racing by Tom O'Ryan

Kayo, narrowly beaten on Knavesmire earlier this month, can gain rich compensation tomorrow by winning the feature race of the day at Newmarket.

Trained in Norton by Tim Etherington, Kayo tackles the £35,000 Coral Sprint Handicap and is fancied to hit the bullseye in the hands of the in-form Darryll Holland.

Twice a winner on sand at Southwell this season, Kay o switched back to turf at York and failed by only a head to get the better of Ho Leng in a red-hot 19-runner handicap.

That race was over seven furlongs and Kayo reverts to six furlongs tomorrow, which may, or may not, be in his favour.

He is, however, a previous winner at this distance and is a horse who relishes a strongly-run race, so fingers are crossed that he will cope admirably and takes the spoils.

North Yorkshire is further strongly represented in this fascinating race by Nuclear Debate, trained by Lynda Ramsden, and David Barron's Torrent. They have big chances but will both have Kayo to beat.

Swynford Dream is beginning to run into form and this James Hetherton-trained gelding should not be overlooked off bottom weight in the Sunley Builds Handicap.

A winner over this course and distance a couple of seasons ago when trained by John Bottomley, who still helps in his coaching, Swynford Dream finished a good sixth to First Maite at Ripon two outings ago and was a creditable fourth to Kilcullen Lad at Redcar on Tuesday. He should run a big race tomorrow.

David Loder introduces Agreeable in the EBF Snailwell Stud Maiden Stakes. This two-year-old colt, who has a big home reputation, is fancied to make a successful debut.

Kieren Fallon is unlikely to leave empty-handed from his local course. He can score aboard the promising Laurentide (2.10) and the well-regarded Desert Lady (4.15).

At Catterick, the Rothmans Royals North South Challenge Series Handicap promises to provide Lunch Party with another winning opportunity.

Trained by the bang-in-form Jack Berry, Lunch Party gained a cosy success on his latest start at Musselburgh and, with bottom weight tomorrow and Iona Wands again taking the ride, he is napped to follow up.

Les Eyre continues to send out a stream of winners and the Hambleton trainer has good prospects with Breakin Even in the Yorkshire Tyne-Tees Television Classified Stakes.

The three-year-old showed improved form at Haydock last time to win a six furlongs apprentices' handicap at 33-1. There was no apparent fluke about that success and Breakin Even promises to be even more effective over this seven furlongs.

Paul D'Arcy, a former northern jockey and work-rider for Michael Stoute, can land his first winner since taking out a training licence earlier this season with Tankersley in the Sinderby Median Auction Maiden Stakes. Tankersely was beaten only a head by Confidante at Thirsk last time.
