A motorcyclist was killed and two people were critically injured in separate accidents in North Yorkshire.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the accidents, one involving a motorcycle and a moped at Selby, and the other at Sutton Bank.
The Selby accident occurred in Flaxley Road, 100 yards north of the junction with First Common Lane. Sergeant George Mead, of North Yorkshire Police, said the motorcycle, a Triumph Daytona 900cc, was being ridden by a man from Airmyn, Goole, when it collided with a Honda moped, ridden by Derek Hughes, 16, of Greenacres caravan site.
Following the impact the motorcyclist veered off the road and struck an electricity pylon and a tree before colliding with the wall of a house. He suffered fatal injuries.
The moped rider, of Selby, was taken to York District Hospital and transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where his family were at his bedside. His condition today was stable.
Earlier, a woman was cut from her vehicle and taken to Friarage Hospital in Northallerton after a collision with a car at Sutton Bank, between Thirsk and Helmsley.
Two young girls in the woman's car escaped serious injury. A man and a young boy in the other vehicle were not seriously hurt. <!C-#include virtual="/ep/newsfooter.html"
