Yorkshire Cricket from David Warner

Yorkshire fast bowler Chris Silverwood was today having a hospital scan on his sore shins to see if he has suffered any stress fractures, writes David Warner.

Silverwood was forced to limp off the field towards the end of Yorkshire's championship match at Northampton last Friday when the pain in his shins became to severe for him to continue bowling.

It was hoped that a few days rest would cure the problem but Silverwood has continued to experience some discomforture and Yorkshire decided to send him for a scan.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed that Chris is going on all right but we need to know the extent of the problem," said director of coaching Martyn Moxon.

"It would be a blow for both Yorkshire and the player if there is a stress fracture and he has to be out for any length of time."

Once Yorkshire get a report on the scan they will have a better idea as to whether Silverwood will be able to return for the Benson and Hedges Cup quarter final match against Durham at Headingley next Wednesday.

Silverwood's absence for any length of time would be a big setback for Yorkshire who showed yesterday how much they have to depend on Craig White when both Silverwood and Darren Gough are out of the side. <!C-#include virtual="/ep/sportfooter.html"
