Young athletes from across the region were ordered to hop, skip and jump to it.
Nearly 160 budding Daley Thompsons from schools across Yorkshire were put through their paces by soldiers at Huntington Stadium, York. The stadium played host to the British Army Athletics Team, who are touring England and Scotland this month.
The 'centres of excellence' are designed to give students an insight into sporting opportunities available within the Army while also improving their athletic skills.
The 14 to 17 year olds were coached in jumping, throwing, sprinting, middle distance running and hurdling.Schools taking part in the performance day included Woldgate School, Pocklington, Sherburn High School, near Selby, Lady Lumley's School, Pickering, Ripon City School and Eskdale School, Whitby.
