Record-breaking double centurion Nick Kay today graduated to county cricket duty.
The St Peter's School captain was named in the Leicestershire 2nd X1 to play against Yorkshire 2nds at Bingley.
His call to Second X1 Championship arms comes less than a fortnight after his swashbuckling innings which foxed even the St Peter's School scoreboard.
Sixth-former Kay's mammoth 200 not out against visitors Giggleswick School was not only an individual batting record for the school, but St Peter's new electronic scoreboard could not match it as the highest its high-tech digits could go was 199.
The innings was hailed as 'probably the finest at the school' by David Kirby, master in charge of cricket at St Peter's, who was one of the youngest county captains to lead Leicestershire at the age of 23.
