If the turf here in Elvington is good enough for these Elvington Cub Scout pack footballers, then it should be good enough for the mighty Juventus and Real Madrid football teams.
The kickaround by the cubs resulted in their approval - and so Elvington turf growers Rolawn cut the turfs, all 9,000 sq metres of them, rolled them up, loaded them on to 25 articulated lorries and shipped it to Holland.
The project was part of a £100,000 deal by Rolawn yet again to supply a new pitch on the Ajax ground in Amsterdam where Juventus and Real meet in the finals of the European Champion League on May 20.
The Elvington Cup Scout football team is sponsored by Rolawn and wears its green and white strip.
Isabel Rogerson, spokesperson for Rolawn said: "This is the third time we have provided Ajax with a new pitch. Without the cubs' approval we would have been forced to reconsider the deal!"
