St Peter's School, York, rower Andrew Dangerfield will represent Great Britain in the Munich Regatta this weekend.
He will be rowing in a double scull and a quad scull and is the first rower from the school to win Great Britain honours.
His success follows great results in regattas and head races throughout the country and superb performances at GB trials.
Dangerfield and two other pupils from the school had their progress monitored by GB Junior Squad coaches at Docklands, London.
The trio of Dangerfield, 18, Helen Austin, 17, and Gemma Bentham, 16, successfully came through squad trials in Nottingham and will return there in June for further trials.
Dangerfield usually competes in single sculls, Austin in coxless pairs, and Bentham in coxless pairs. They are coached by John Ward.
