A host of former York Rugby League Club stars are poised for a Huntington Stadium comeback in Stewart Horton's testimonial game.
Horton, the former Wasps player and coach, has gathered an all-stars line-up, featuring Graham Steadman, Steve Crooks, Gary Pearce, Steve Dobson and Graham Sullivan, for his benefit match against the current York side,
They are all due to make second half appearances in the testimonial game tomorrow (7.30pm), organised by York to honour Horton's service over ten seasons as player and then coach.
Horton has selected his current Heworth amateur side to play the first half of the fixture and their squad is expected to include ex-Wasps Craig Forsyth, Andy Gable and Chris Hammerton.
Horton said that the second half squad, which also includes Castleford Tigers first teamers Ian Tonks and Jason Welsh, would give supporters the chance to see 40 minutes of "legendary rugby".
Said Horton: "We will be going to play rugby and it will be a good open game. It will be nice to see some ex-pros going on to the park and play against some old team-mates.
"The Heworth team are ready and they will try and put York under pressure. And with Steadman etc playing the second half we might see a bit of legendary rugby."
Horton's second half squad is: Jason Welsh, Dave Kettlestring, Chris Harrison, Graham Sullivan, Pete Lockwood, Graham Steadman, Steve Dobson, Steve Crooks, Stephen Wheatley, Ian Tonks, Lyle George, Geoff Pryce, Gary Pearce, Colin Brown, Craig Forsyth, Chris Hammerton, Andy Gable.
The testimonial game is York's last friendly before the second division season kicks off against Bramley at Huntington Stadium on Friday, April 10 (7.30pm).
Wasps coach Dean Robinson plans to field his likely first choice 13 against 'Corgi' Horton's testimonial line-up.
