Farming experts at Eden Farm Insight in Old Malton are appealing for information about a new exhibit which has been restored to its former glory.
Museum boss John Sturdy believes the horse-drawn muck-spreader was made in the United States earlier this century.
Mr Sturdy said: "Muck was normally spread on the land by hand. It was very rare in the United Kingdom to use horse-drawn muck-spreaders in the early part of this century, which is why I feel that it was made in the USA." Mr Sturdy is urging anyone with information about the muck-spreader to telephone him on 01653 692093. The machine will go on public display when the museum re-opens on Monday, April 6. And it will be in action during a Vintage Working Day at Eden Farm Insight on Sunday, April 19, in addition to craft displays including straw dolly making, butter making, spinning, coopering and a working blacksmith.
