Scarborough today lost newest recruit Jim Dobbin to Grimsby Town after just one game.
Boro boss Mick Wadsworth said he was unwilling to block the move for Dobbin, taken from Doncaster on Friday, after he was offered a contract and a coaching role at Grimsby.
"He was only on non-contract here and he was at Grimsby for ten years. They have offered him a chance to coach and more money. We could not promise him anything for next season. It would be unfair to say 'you cannot go'," said Wadsworth.
"He helped us out by getting a point at Swansea on Saturday. But Ian Snodin came through a reserve game last night and I never envisaged playing them both in the same side."
Wadsworth revealed he was eager to make a deadline day loan signing to bolster the club's attacking strength as they strive for promotion to Division Two.
The move was prompted by a double injury blow, with Jamie Mitchell picking up a calf injury in the reserves' 6-0 victory over Doncaster last night and Liam Robinson still suffering with his Achilles problem.
