Netball
All Saints Under 14s travel to Ipswich on Friday to compete in the All England Netball finals along with Joseph Rowntree Under 14 and Under 19s.
The girls who carry hopes of North Yorkshire on their shoulders are:
All Saints U14s: Katie Teasdale (capt), Lisa Norman, Ellie Hoyle, Katie Bell, Hannah Kaufman, Julia Kaufman, Rachel Harlow, Audrey Outhwaite.
Joseph Rowntree U14s: Gemma Shaw (capt) Liz Davies, Debra Salter, Joanne Phillips, Dawn Pashby, Jenny Carter, Helen Cordell, Katie Barass and Lucy Ray.
Joseph Rowntree U19s: Claire Hudson (capt) Amanda Brigham, Gemma Carter, Nicky Barnard, Tina Jones, Laura Carroll, Becky Triffitt, reserves, Julie Ely and Emily Keen.
Joseph Rowntree retained the York and District Schools' Under 15 netball title for their seventh successive year in emphatic style. They beat St Peter's 9-1 in the final at Joseph Rowntree School, to sweep through the tournament unbeaten.
In the early stages they beat Millthorpe 7-3, Tadcaster 13-2, Fulford 11-2, Huntington 14-3, Manor 11-4, All Saints 13-3.
Rowntree proved too sharp for St Peter's in the final with excellent intercepting and shooting a feature of their play.
The winning Joseph Rowntree team was Julie Ely (capt), Amy Cunnington, Louise Perrins, Emily Keen, Katy Neep, Jemma Ferguson, Gemma Grant and Amy Snow.
Winners of the 'B' section were All Saints 'B', with Tadcaster 'B' second, Huntington 'B' third and Huntington 'C' fourth. Gemma Gibson, a former Joseph Rowntree player, who is now the England Under 17 vice-captain presented the trophies.
Laura Carroll (Joseph Rowntree) stepped in at the last minute to represent North Yorkshire in the Inter-counties Netball tournament. She played with old team mate Gemma Gibson and was spotted by the England scouts who are now attending all the major tournaments.
Joseph Rowntree have 14 girls selected for the three areas teams. They are:
Under 14: Helen Cordell, Gemma Shaw, Debra Salter.
Under 16: Sarah Cammidge, Faye Pashby, Chloe Granham, Nine Thirlway, Julie Ely, Gemma Grant, Amy Snow.
Under 18: Claire Hudson, Laura Carroll, Gemma Carter, Amanda Brigham.

Under 12 'A' and 'B' tournament, Saturday, March 14, at Joseph Rowntree.
Under 13 'A' and 'B' tournament, Saturday, March 21, at Joseph Rowntree.
Cross Country
Barlby's Cara Greaves produced an excellent run in awful conditions to finish 46th out of 330 in the English School's Cross-Country Championships at Cheltenham.
Greaves was the only year eight in the county team at year nine level and her result was the best of any North Yorkshire boy or girl in the Junior and Intermediate age groups.
The course was a slippery mud bath and a large number of runners dropped out, particularly in the junior girls' race.
Of the other York School athletes in the county team, Matthew Speake (Joseph Rowntree) had a good run to finish 121st in the Inter boys race. Sandy Cowan (St Peter's) was 178th in that race.
Paul Priestly (Bootham) was 255th in the junior race and Charlotte Bleasdale (Tadcaster) 167th in the junior girls.
Runners from outside the area schools, but who compete for Nestle Rowntree AC, were Nicola Timmins 184th, Christina Emslie 197th, and Emily Watts 241st.
Some of the races can be viewed on Channel 4 at 1.10pm on Sunday.
Basketball
Students at Lady Lumley's School in Pickering are celebrating sporting success.
The Year 11 basketball team has won the Scarborough and District Under-16 Area Trophy and will represent the district in the county championships at Lady Lumley's on April 1.
And a number of individual students from the school have achieved representative honours in a variety of sports.
The basketball team beat Pindar School, Scarborough, by 47 points to 38 in the final of the under-16 competition at Pindar Leisure Centre.
Captained by Gary Welford, the team also includes Will Baxter, Rob Beever, Will Anderson, Simon Taylor, Geoff Wynn, Rob Lockwood and Mike McQuillan.
Students selected to represent Scarborough and District in area teams are: Vicky Baker at under-14 level netball, Rebecca Quinlan and Ruth Wilson at under-16, and Emma Geary, Emma Burton, Sarah Hall and Clare Webster at under-19; at cross country Damon Cox, Philip Aconley and Joel Richardson at under-12, and David Eddon at under-14; at football Philip Maw at under-15; at basketball James Hawley, James Harland, Luke Jones, Matthew Brown, Christopher Quinlan, Joe McQullian at under-14, and Philip Maw and Darren Rix at under-15.
Football
Terry Davison has been picked for the North Yorkshire under-16 football side and Grant Fraser for the county's under-19 rugby team.
York Boys' Under 14s soccer team have battled through to the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Cup.
They won 5-4 at Spen Valley in appalling conditions with goals by Lee Atkinson, Mark Andrews, Matthew Kilgallon, Luke Ibbetson and Liam Chapman.
Centre back Kilgallon (Tadcaster GS) has signed schoolboy forms for Leeds United.
York's semi-final will be against Doncaster at Wigginton on Saturday, March 28.
York's Under 15 side meet Leeds at Wigginton this coming Saturday in the quarter-final of the Yorkshire Trophy.

Kingsway will go through to the North Yorkshire finals which are to be held in a fortnight's time at a venue to be announced.
