Flooding is likely tomorrow morning in North Yorkshire, the Environment Agency warned today.
Issuing an Amber Alert - the second highest warning level - it said some minor roads and isolated properties would become waterlogged.
The River Ouse at King's and Queen's Staiths in York will also flood, a spokeswoman said.
Meanwhile, the flood warnings led to rowing crews being pulled out of a major racing event on the River Ouse today.
About 30 junior and novice crews were told they could not take part in the annual Yorkshire Head of the River Race for safety reasons.A spokesman at the York City Rowing Club said the river was flowing much fast than normal.
About 90 crews from across the North will still race in the 5km event, which starts at Rawcliffe and finishes just downstream of Lendal Bridge.
