Continental culture came to York with games, cuisine and a little bit of European singing.
Park rangers brandishing French boules, chefs with mouth-watering Euro-grub and some Eurovision Song Contest hopefuls were at Brubakers in York to show off their Euro-credentials.
As the city gears up to host a rush of foreign visitors over the Ecofin weekend later this month, special events are being planned all over York. While the finance ministers from European Union countries are discussing the finer points of a single currency, there will be fun to be had outside the conference chamber.
A list of community events with a European theme in York has been published by the City of York Council with details of what is happening, where and when.
Special dance evenings are being organised at various points around the city, including Flamenco dancing, country and folk dancing, and at Hull Road Park a dash of Austrian cheese rolling will be in evidence.
