A RUMBLE with the Rhinos awaits York Rugby League Club.
The Wasps are hoping to entertain a side from Super Leaguers Leeds at Huntington Stadium on Friday, March 20, (7.30pm).
The fixture has been agreed in principle between Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington and Wasps coach Dean Robinson and the clubs are awaiting permission from the Rugby Football League.
The Rhinos are unlikely to send a full strength line-up for the friendly fixture but may include the likes of Graham Holroyd, Phil Hassan, Marvin Golden and Andy Hay.
In recent similar friendlies the Headingley outfit have fielded a sprinkling of fringe first teamers, plus Academy players or several players from tenants Bramley.
Said Wasps chief executive Phil Elliott: "It will be excellent. It is a Friday evening match, two weeks prior to the start of the season and it is Leeds.
"It will be a good test because we have played well against a first division side and it will be a nice test to get a Super League side, albeit at half strength."
York are due to visit Barrow Border Raiders on Sunday in the first stage of their preparations for their opening second division fixture with Bramley on Friday, April 10.
