BATTLING Scarborough came back with a hard-earned point from a goal-less draw at promotion rivals Peterborough.

It was an eventful night for Ian Snodin who was moved from Saturday's sweeper role to start in midfield, switched to right back when John Kay injured a hamstring, and finished up in hospital with a horrific gash to the ankle which left the bone clearly visible.

Snodin was caught by a late challenge by Miquel De Souza, who in a personal trail of devastation also removed one of Ben Worrall's front teeth with a wayward elbow.

The game only occasionally burst into life, but Tony Elliott made two outstanding early saves to deny Jimmy Quinn and Darren Roberts, and showed superb handling to deal with a stream of crosses.

Boro's best effort came when Paul Conway, who was played as a makeshift striker by boss Mick Wadsworth, produced a pin-point cross to find the head of Jason Rockett. But Rockett directed his header inches over the bar.

At the other end Rockett and Gary Bennett were immaculate in defence as the home team pressed forward. Boro played very much on the break, but failed to make the most of a series of opportunities which should have produced a greater threat on the Peterborough goal.

But Wadsworth's men were well worth their point, although the loss of Snodin for the run-in of the season will be a major blow with the play-off positions so tight.
