VILLAGERS got themselves in a twist after their local shop put up a notice asking for the return of a missing pair of knickers.
The notice read: "Lost, one pair of ladies' green knickers. Of great sentimental value - one very upset owner".
It was pinned up on the door of the store in Hemingbrough, near Selby, by Suzie Lawton, 19, daughter of owner Brian Lawton.
Mr Lawton said Suzie had put up the notice as a bit of a joke after a woman complained about losing her favourite pair of bloomers.
He said: "It has attracted a lot of gossip and sniggering.''
The owner of the knickers said: "If anyone finds them I'd be grateful if they would return them to the store."
