CEDG York Ltd, the specialist railway design consultancy, has gained the prestigious Investors In People (IIP) standard.
With a staff of more than 200 based at Hudson House, Toft Green, York, as well as offices in London, Birmingham and Manchester, CEDG used to be one of the York-based British Rail Engineering businesses and is now part of British Steel's portfolio of railway firms.
It committed itself to gaining the Investors In People standard five years ago and the processes helped the firm get the best value from its annual investment of around £300,000 in staff training and development.
Hugh Fenwick, managing director of CEDG, praised the North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council for its help and encouragement throughout the programme.
He said: "Our company's policy is to strive continually to improve the quality of service to our clients and to this end we received Quality Accreditation five years ago.
"When we heard about the IIP scheme we realised it was ideally suited to a company such as ours, which sells its people's skills, so we decided to go for it."
