NORTH YORKSHIRE'S oldest resident has died only weeks after celebrating her 108th birthday.
Kay Sharp died in her sleep at The Lodge residential home in Westbourne Road, Scarborough, yesterday. She had lived there for 21 years.
She was believed to be the oldest woman in the world to undergo a hip operation in 1996. Mrs Sharp, who celebrated her birthday on January 28, sent a message of support to the Queen Mother as she underwent a similar operation.
Staff at the home, who described Mrs Sharp as a lovely woman with a good sense of humour.
