A LIGHT aircraft which performed stunts over York University may now have started buzzing Acomb, according to local resident Jim Doherty.

The Evening Press reported last month how an "airborne boy racer" was reportedly performing aerobatic manoeuvres over the eastern end of York.

Former air traffic controller Terry Cullen claimed the Chipmunk-style plane was regularly flying below 500 feet above homes and the university, putting residents' lives at risk.

Now Mr Doherty, of Tostig Avenue, says the "Red Baron" is making a regular appearance in the skies above Acomb.

"He has been around for the past 12 months or so, but he has been up every single day since Christmas," he said.

"You can hear him all of a sudden go into a divebomb, sounding like a Stukka.

"It's all he does. I think he is going to lose it one day. It has to be the same chap."

The Civil Aviation Authority has said that planes should not fly below 500 feet above towns and villages and it would investigate if complaints were made about a plane.
