A NEW guide giving young people in East Yorkshire advice and information on topics ranging from education to love and sex has been officially launched.
The Youth Files, inspired by the cult TV show the X Files and tagged The Truth Is In Here, is a paperback reference book which is divided into subjects of interest and importance to young people.
Its cover, pictured, features the white rose logo of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council in a blurred, greenish form resembling the X Files symbol.
For the council, Faith Mann said: "We hope that all young people in the East Riding will find the booklet interesting, informative and of practical help."
The guide has been produced by the council's community education service, which is responsible for providing youth services and adult education opportunities.
Ms Mann said: "The community education service is committed to providing an extensive range of opportunities and activities for young people and we see The Youth Files booklet as being very much in line with this commitment.
"The aim is to provide high-quality, relevant and up-to-date information to young people as many of them prepare to move to more independent living and, for the first time, make choices about their future and lifestyle."
Copies of the guide will shortly be distributed to all Year 11 pupils - those aged 15 and 16 - in schools throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire.
