WHERE there's a will there's a way of raising funds for York's St Leonard's Hospice, according to the Peter Pan of pop.
Bachelor Boy Sir Cliff Richard is backing a month long special promotion titled Willing to Help St Leonard's.
During February, 14 local solicitors are offering a discounted service to encourage everyone to make a will.
But the scheme will also raise money for the Tadcaster Road-based hospice.
The solicitors have agreed to draw-up a will for a discounted fee of £35.25 per person, as long as the will leaves a legacy, no matter how small, to St Leonard's.
And for those who have already made a will, they can add a simple amendment to leave a bequest to the hospice absolutely free.
Adding his dulcet tones to the campaign, Sir Cliff said: "I am delighted to support Willing to Help St Leonard's as I know what wonderful work hospices do. Please act now for the sake of your family and to help such a good cause."
Karen Russell, finance and fundraising manager of St Leonard's, said: "Only one person in three makes a will, yet nearly everyone realises that it is an important thing to do.
"Willing to Help St Leonard's encourages us all to get proper legal advice at a very special rate and to help St Leonard's care for local people and their families at the same time. The solicitors who are taking part are very supportive of the hospice and we are grateful to them for their generosity."
St Leonard's Hospice, which was opened in 1985, costs more than £1 million a year to run.
For more details about the scheme, contact St Leonard's Hospice at 185 Tadcaster Road, York YO2 2QL, or telephone 01904 708553 between 9am and 5pm and ask for a list of participating solicitors.
