A FATHER and son who launched the successful hair and beauty salon, Daniel James, of Grape Lane, York, have now formed their own separate company to market their services to leisure projects in Britain and abroad.
Under the banner Daniel James Leisure Ltd, both John Higgins and his son, Daniel James Higgins, have been contracted by First Leisure Corporation plc to provide a range of hairdressing services at Cookridge Hall golf and country club in Leeds.
It will form part of a combined golf and leisure project there, including a 40,000sq ft health and fitness club. The new salon will have many of the services offered at the three storey Grape Lane premises John opened nine years ago, including scalp treatments, stress-relieving massage, mini facials and make overs.
Naturally it will also include access to the kind of hairdressing skills acquired by John Higgins from the Vidal Sassoon school in the 1960s and from his experience acquired by opening the Harrods Knightsbridge salon; as well as from the skills that son Daniel acquired in German salons.
Another salon will form part of a project of 450 luxury villas and a golf complex by the Pestana Leisure Group in Portugal.
John said: "It is a new and exciting phase for us. We're thrilled to be associated with the First Leisure Corporation project.
"I have a time share apartment in Madeira and knew the directors of the Pestana Leisure Group. When they invited us to join in their plans we happily obliged."
