LIKE Mike Usherwood (Letters, July 9) I get very annoyed by people who ride bicycles on the pavement.
Unfortunately, the plans for the redevelopment of the front of York station include a short stub of cycle lane which leads to a pedestrian crossing (a new "puffin" crossing). According to the publicity leaflet, this is provided "to enable cyclists to use the puffin crossing into the station more safely".
It is illegal to cycle on a pedestrian crossing. The station end of the crossing leads directly onto the pavement. There are no on road facilities to assist law-abiding cyclists in making the same turn into the station.
