LIKE many thousands of people last week, I joined in the silent prayers for the recent victims of terrorism in London.
I also prayed that God would help their families and friends to deal with the terrible losses they have suffered. I also remembered in my prayers all the other victims of terrorism throughout the world and thanked God I had had the good fortune to move from London to York some 11 years ago.
On watching the news that evening, I felt a glimmer of hope when I noticed a placard being waved in London stating "One City-One World". Could it be that at long last the occupants of our planet have realised cities such as London, Washington and so on are just one city and part of one world?
Hopefully a world where power-hungry leaders will realise that no one (no matter how wealthy or powerful they are perceived to be) has a God-given right to bomb, maim and kill innocent people.
The damage and pain is after all no different in London and Washington to that suffered in Afghanistan, Israel, Iraq, Turkey, parts of South Africa and all the other 'cities' who have suffered at the hands of "'terrorists".
So can we have a further show of support for all victims of terrorism, and at the same time a universal day of prayer for the development of humanitarianism?
