NEXT season's York Schoolboys' Under-11s football team might have a shot at re-creating the previous squad's success after shocking the highly rated Hull Academy side in a friendly.
The fledgling side travelled to Hull for a trial match expecting a tough time against the Hull team that have beaten the outgoing U11s this season, but ended up winning 3-2.
Hull went one up in a smothering early exchange before Dan Wilson equalised.
Sean Evans then got the ball inside his own half, out-sprinted two defenders and slotted the ball in from a narrow angle to score a superb second goal and put York ahead.
Hull rallied and made it 2-2 but with ten minutes to go, man-of-the-match Wilson netted a winner to give them a great lift in their first outing as a team.
Jack Anderson and James Hall were both on form in goal, assisted by some solid defending from Liam Jackson, Jack Ryder, Danny Rodwell and Paul Winterburn.
The next game will be in the new school year at York Sixth Form College on September 3, when Hull will no doubt be out for revenge.
