HARROGATE Town were taught an object lesson in finishing last night by last season's League One top scorer in a 4-1 friendly defeat.
Pawel Abbott, the former York Schools player, turned on the style to fire all four past the Nationwide North side, claiming his hat-trick on 42 minutes and then adding a fourth five minutes after the restart to give a strong Huddersfield Town a comfortable win.
Gareth Grant came close to a spectacular equaliser with an overhead kick. But substitute Chris Coupe went one better after on-loan Bradford City player Sam Denton set him up for a consolatory strike.
UniBond division one new boys Goole went down 3-0 at home to Sheffield United reserves, including strikes by Paul Shaw and midfielder Stephen Quinn.
Selby Town Academy beat Leeper Hare premier division champions Dringhouses 2-0.
