IT was a dash for the cash for top weight La Cucaracha at York Races on Saturday.
The feature race on Knavesmire, the £50,000 Skybet Dash, fell to trainer Michael Hills' raider from Lambourn.
The filly, ridden by Barry Hills, proved too good for her 14 rivals. The field set off at a blistering pace for the six-furlong sprint with Artie, trained by Tim Easterby at Great Habton, to the fore. But La Cucaracha tore through the pack to win by three-qaurters of a length from 16-1 shot Connect.
Easterby's uncle, Mick, picked up his second winner of the two-day meeting, in the final race of the day, the TSG Handicap, when Sporting Gesture took the verdict narrowly from 9/4 favourite Sualda, trained by Malton's Richard Fahey.
