AS people who live in Tang Hall know, the Co-op has undergone a major refurbishment, making it much more pleasant and, most importantly, fully accessible to disabled shoppers.

I have recently found out that because of the lack of a free parking bay, due to be installed but not yet fully in place, the council may force part of the shop to close until it is put in by the council.

This could mean at least a three-month delay which is ludicrous.

Some of the footpath outside my house as far as the shops was dug up weeks ago, and because the dropped kerbs were, and still are, blocked, it is impossible for me to access these valuable local community resources on my disabled scooter.

Isn't this a more important issue for the council to sort out? The recent disability legislation says it should be.

While I am having a moan: a new pedestrian crossing was painted in on Tang Hall Lane. There is a sign for road users to say the crossing is not yet in use, but nothing to say this, easily visible, for footpath users!

I have been concerned about the traffic on Tang Hall Lane for some time, and have been told the council shares my concern.

Has anything happened to reduce it?

There are children and vulnerable adults who need access the other side of the road and I am sure it is only a matter of time before a fatal accident occurs - but what is being done to protect them?

Nothing, it seems.
