MEANWHILE, York Hospital is back at the top of the league, its three star status regained.

Our congratulations to all involved. Losing one star was a disappointment, but the hospital rose to the challenge, cleaned up its act and fully deserves today's accolade.

This tribute will be echoed by many readers who have used the hospital in the past year. The extra star has been anticipated in glowing testimony to the standard of care and kindness of staff regularly published on our letters page.

York Hospital treats more patients more quickly than ever before. We are fortunate to be in such star-spangled hands.
