Leeds United goalkeeper Ian Bennett saved a penalty from former Elland Road trainee Tom Newey in a 1-1 draw at Grimsby last night.
The home side took the lead after only 12 minutes with a goal by ex-York City loanee Michael Reddy. Frazer Richardson equalised soon after with a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area.
In the second half Bennett made his penalty save to press his claims to start ahead of Neil Sullivan, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.
David Healy was away celebrating the birth of his son, while other absentees were Paul Butler, Gary Kelly, Dan Harding and Sean Gregan.
Leeds' home Yorkshire derby against Sheffield United has been brought forward for televising by Sky.
The match will now be played on Friday, October 21 (7.45pm) instead of Saturday, October 22 as originally arranged.
