I AM no fan of cars and those who use them unnecessarily or too much. Therefore I was pleased to read about ID Oils supplying "biodiesel" to car owners and businesses, which enables vehicles to be greener, because the fuel is renewable, made from plants like rape and sunflower (July 18).
Vehicles using this fuel are not burning fossil carbon and are therefore not contributing as much to climate change. However, they remain noisy, dusty and potentially dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists, and contribute to traffic levels along with all the others.
Could the Evening Press run a campaign to get more of York's vehicles switched over to this fuel? I'd be delighted and surprised to read something truly green in your weekly pull-out, Drive.
Could I also take this opportunity to correct something you published about me last week? I may have been labelled as a "recycling champion" (July 7) but I do not recycle all my waste.
My wheelie bin is emptied every four to six weeks, and contains things impossible for me to reuse or recycle.
