LAST week my son was unfortunate enough to lose his wallet out of his pocket on his way home from work somewhere on the cycle track between James Street and Kitchener Street.

After a long search we presumed it wouldn't be seen again. There was a little money in it (all loose change) but more importantly his bank card, which we cancelled straight away, his back door key and, to make matters worse, his driving licence with our address on it.

After contacting the police to report it lost we were advised to be extra careful at home. Luckily, a very nice locksmith was able to change the door lock that night, giving us a little peace of mind.

To our surprise there was a registered letter for us the following morning. The wallet (minus the money) had been put into a post box complete with cards, collected by a postman and taken back to the sorting office at Leeman Road, where somebody had taken the effort to place it in an envelope and post it back to us. Thank you to that person.

We criticise them often enough but on this occasion well done Royal Mail.
