LAST Sunday I went to the Rowntree Park Birthday Celebration and I had a really pleasant afternoon in wonderful surroundings.
Unfortunately, my experience was tainted by the amount of goose droppings all over the grass and footpaths making it impossible to sit anywhere because of the mess they leave behind.
This problem has been going on for several years - surely a decision should be made as to whether we want a park for people or a park for geese. Yes, geese are welcome in the park but not in the numbers that I witnessed on Sunday.
As an expectant parent, I am looking forward to being able to take my child along to a clean, grassy park and to play freely without having to worry about what else I will have to take home on their clothes, shoes or buggy.
Finally, I would like to see more signs around the city encouraging people not to feed the geese as their well-meaning but misguided efforts only serve to exacerbate the problem.
