WITH Victorian ingenuity and modern engineering techniques, the new proposed ideas for the Eye of York and surrounding area is not without its merits, providing the architecture and design blends in with established features from the past.
Preserving our historical sites and catering for modern demands such as car parking and new shopping and leisure centres in a central location would seem to be the ideal solution.
Money raised by the would-be developers, enhanced by sponsorship and sensible car parking charges in any underground complex will, hopefully, offset any financial outlay by the city council and not burden local taxpayers in the future.
