Forest fervour: FOREST of Galtres GC beat Forest Park 4-2 in the first Andrew Wain Memorial Trophy event at Forest Park.
The trophy was given by both clubs in memory of Wain, who was club administrator at Forest Park and a former vice-captain at Forest of Galtres. He died earlier this year from cancer.
His wife Carol, left, is pictured presenting the trophy to Forest of Galtres captain Kevin Banfield. The event is to be held annually and alternately on each of the courses.
Aldwark Trophy stays at Park
FIONA Crossley and Trees Reed have ensured that the Aldwark Trophy will reside at Forest Park for a second successive year.
The pair won the York Union of Golf Clubs' ladies' fourball competition, held at Heworth, with 40 points to emulate the achievements of club colleagues Julie Aston and Davina Burn in 2004.
Jackie Hateley and Mabs Embleton (Easingwold) finished second with 39 points. Malton and Norton duos None Chapman and Pat Barber (38 points), Pat Ruddock and Linda Bower (37), Pat Hague and Chris Glendinning (37) and Mo Clark and Judith Fishburn (35) occupied the next four places.
Parry on the Silkeborg road
HARROGATE'S John Parry, 18, was aiming for a Danish slice of good fortune this weekend.
The current Yorkshire champion today opened his bid for success in the 54-hole Danish amateur championship, which finishes tomorrow at Silkeborg.
Rusby races to Acomb victory
ON a day of low scoring, Keith Rushby won Fulford GC's Dr J Acomb Trophy. His nine-under-par 63 reduced his handicap from 16 to 14. David Leaf's 70 was the lowest gross.
