PHIL Jaques' epic 219 against Derbyshire was his fifth double century in 14 three-figure scores since making his debut for New South Wales.
That was only 61 first-class games ago and to plunder five double centuries in so short a time is indeed a remarkable achievement.
But Anthony McGrath could also boast an extremely rare feat when his 134 during his 310 stand with Jaques gave him a century in each of three consecutive Championship innings against Derbyshire.
McGrath hammered 174 in the second innings at Derby last year and followed up a fortnight later with 109 in Yorkshire's only innings in the rain-affected return match at Headingley.
Only three other players have scored three consecutive Championship centuries off Derbyshire's attack. They are William Gunn for Nottinghamshire (1896-97), John Langridge for Sussex (1949) and Gordon Greenidge for Hampshire (1986).
