THE New Generation Singing Club is a club that caters for children aged between nine and 16 years old who have an interest in music. We enable children to perform all types of music: karaoke, drums, piano, guitar.
We also have a brand new sound system, plus many other musical aids. The club is run by the children, for the children, with adults there to help and provide the necessary legal requirements.
In November the club is performing at the Guildhall, in the presence of the York civic party. The evening is entitled Children Against Poverty In Africa (CAPA).
The idea was suggested and agreed by all the club members and the aim is to raise money for the children of Africa.
We would also like to raise awareness of the plight of other children, who have the misfortune to be born in a country where such poverty exists.
On Wednesday, August 17, the Singing Club will be holding an open day and workshops at Holgate Methodist Church from 10.30am-3.30pm.
There will be a booking charge of £2, which will include lunch and refreshments.
The idea of this open day is to welcome back old members and new, and to illustrate the work and the facilities the club now has to offer.
If you are aged between nine and 16, have an interest in music, are looking for new friends and would like to take part in CAPA, please ring me to register for our open day on (01904) 790732.
Alternately if you are aged between 18 and 25, have an interest in music and relate to children, and would like to help then please ring me on the same number.
Closing date for applications is August 12.

Parkside Close,
