WHILE I support York council's recycling efforts, I am concerned about the forthcoming arrangements for collection of garden waste. I understand that new collection arrangements will be introduced and household and garden waste will be collected on alternate weeks.
I note that, even with the existing weekly household waste collection, many grey wheelie bins are full to overflowing. It is probable that moving to a fortnightly collection will present a problem for many homes.
I approached the council and asked what would be done to address the probability of surplus household waste. While agreeing that my concern was not unfounded, the only solution offered was that householders could take their rubbish to the council waste facilities.
Hardly a satisfactory service for £1,400 per annum council tax.
