TODAY is the day for plain-speaking, heart-swelling pride.
Yorkshire Day allows residents of the greatest county to celebrate where they live, glorying in the mixture of history, geography, humour and beauty that comprises Yorkshire.
In York today, the event was being marked with a reinforcement of the traditional ridings, with a Declaration of Integrity being read at each of the city's four gates - one for each of the three old ridings, and one for the city itself.
So stop for a moment today and remind yourself how lucky you are to live in the land of the white rose.
